Where the Hotel Lobby meme came from

“Hotel Lobby” is a 2022 song by Quavo and Takeoff, who performed it as Unc & Phew on A COLORS SHOW. In early September 2026, AI videos of two cats recreating that performance went viral, and the format quickly spread to couples, best friends, movie characters and athletes. Complex reported hundreds of thousands of versions within weeks.

The format keeps the original movements, lip-sync and audio and swaps the two performers, which is why it needs exactly two photos. Takeoff was killed in 2022, and some fans have said the performance should be remembered rather than remixed. Quavo reposted the original video on September 23, 2026 and called it “The Original”.
